Holy Trinity Hoghton

GROUP A - Plain Hunt

Students must be capable of striking bells (of different weights) with consistent accuracy in rounds and called changes, including leading. Students will find it helpful to know what techniques are necessary to ring a bell more quickly and more slowly. [For example, this information can be found in the 'One Per Learner' book, page 8.]

GROUP B - Plain Bob

Students must be capable of accurately striking several different bells to Plain Hunt on 5 or 6. Students should have made an attempt to learn the 'blue line' of Plain Bob Minor (or Doubles). [This information can be found in 'Diagrams', 'One Per Learner', ‘Ringing Circles’ or a Ringing World Diary.]

GROUP C - Touches of Plain Bob Minor or Doubles

Students must be able to ring a plain course of Plain Bob from more than one bell. They will find it helpful to read a description of what happens at a bob and a single. [This information can be found in 'Diagrams', One Per Learner', ‘Ringing Circles’ or a Ringing World Diary.] It would also be helpful if they were capable of ringing the treble to a touch.

N.B. Places for students are often limited due to lack of helpers!! Are there any helpers at your tower?

HELPERS (are also needed!!)

This course can only succeed if sufficient willing helpers are forthcoming. We appeal for as many ringers as possible to come along and help those who wish to learn. You do not have to be an 'expert' but please specify with which groups you could help. Help with both sessions would be ideal but if you can only spare a couple of hours or so, your help would still be much appreciated - simply indicate am (10.00 - 12.00) or pm (2.00 - 4.30) on the enclosed application form.

Assemble at Holy Trinty Church Hall from 9.00am. The car park is just behind the Church. The cost will be £7.00 (payable on the day) and includes lunch and tea/coffee morning and afternoon, (£1.50 per session if not taking lunch). Please indicate if you have any special dietary requirements.

Please complete the enclosed APPLICATION FORM and return it no later than March 12th. Places are limited and will be allocated at the discretion of the Education sub- committee. If, after applying, you find that you are unable to attend, please let BARBARA know as soon as possible as someone may be waiting on the reserve list. (tel. 01772 725241 or 07739 694973 - text messages are fine too)
